Aspley State School Parents & Citizens Association

Our Community does better with YOU.

The Aspley State School Parents and Citizens Association (“The P&C") is a vital part of life at our school. A key role of the P&C is to encourage parent engagement in educational matters. Throughout the year, volunteers create events that support our community to be a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our families, students, and staff.

The P&C manages the business operations of the Tuckshop (The Snack Shack) and Uniform Shop.  It also assists in fundraising to enhance our students' learning environment. These additional funds allow our school to provide extra resources for learning and play, including upgrading the grounds and buildings, funding air-conditioned classrooms, supporting sustainability projects such as the school gardens, and many other activities. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.

Communication

The P&C work hard to ensure that families are informed and involved about events happening around the school. We utilize online sign-up platforms and electronic surveys to gather feedback. The school newsletter and school website are the two most important sources of information. P&C News, in the school newsletter, provides an update of current and future P&C activities.

A vision of the P&C is to reduce its contribution to paper wastage by only sending paper notes home when necessary. Classrooms receive a “poster" of upcoming activities from time to time, and we have an active Facebook page www.facebook.com/AspleySSPandC/ . The school will also send an email update on behalf of the P&C when necessary.

Meeting Dates

The P&C conducts 2 general meetings per term. At meetings, important issues are put forward and this is an opportunity to be informed and be involved in the decision making. Your attendance is always welcome and you do not have to be a member to attend; however only members are eligible to vote in decisions, so why not make your vote count?

Executive nominations can be made by completing the Executive nomination form (PDF, 108KB) and dropping it into the office. Uniform Shop and Tuckshop

The P&C manages the business operations of our Aspley Uniform Shop and Tuckshop, as a service to our school community. Volunteers are vital in ensuring these services run smoothly. To offer your support, we welcome you to speak with our Tuckshop and Uniform shop convenors or contact us via email.

Online ordering is our preferred option and is available via Flexischools app - www.flexischools.com.au

Tuckshop – Email: Tuckshop.AspleySS@gmail.com or call 3863 9114 for any enquiries, orders, or to discuss volunteering opportunities.

Uniform Shop - Email: Uniforms.AspleySS@gmail.com for any enquiries or orders, or to discuss volunteering opportunities.  Please see this link for our Refunds and Exchanges Policy. Uniform Refunds and Exchange Policy

Volunteers don't necessarily have the time, they just have the heart.

Aspley Swimming Club

The Aspley Swimming Club supports the running of Friday night swim club events (in Term 4 and Term 1, each year), friendly events with neighbouring schools, and Club Championships. All members of our community are welcome to participate at Aspley Swim Club, not just Aspley State School students. To find out more, see their page on this website or email swimaspley@hotmail.com.  As a volunteer run subcommittee, we encourage attending families to play an active role in supporting the ASC throughout the year.

Event Working Groups

The P&C supports parents who are passionate about organizing events throughout the school year to bring our community together. Some events include fun runs, school discos, movie nights, Mother's and Father's Day Stall, Bake Sales, Sausage Sizzles and more. Events held in 2022 such as the Mother's Day Picnic, Trivia Night, Outdoor Movie Night came together because parents wanted to make it happen!

Parents who are keen are invited to form a working party, whereby an executive team member will assist them. Working parties are a great way to meet other parents and be a part of something bigger within our school community.

Feedback

The P&C likes to know if we are on the right track, so please feel free to send feedback via email or via the surveys advertised in the school newsletter.  If you have a serious concern or complaint, please provide your feedback in writing to the P&C executive team.  We have a Complaints/Grievance Policy Procedure to help our volunteers handle matters in a confidential manner.
