Aspley State School Parents & Citizens Association
Our Community is nothing without You.
The Aspley State School Parents and Citizens Association (“The P&C”) is a vital part of life at our school. A key role of the P&C is to encourage parent engagement in educational matters. Throughout the year, volunteers organise events that support our community to be a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our families, students, and staff.
The P&C manages the business operations of the Tuckshop and Uniform Shop and assists in fundraising to enhance our student’s learning environment. These additional funds allow our school to provide extra resources for learning and play, including upgrading the grounds and buildings, funding air-conditioned classrooms, supporting sustainability projects such as the school gardens, and many other activities. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.
The P&C work hard to ensure that families are informed and involved about events happening around the school. We utilize online sign-up platforms and electronic surveys to gather feedback. The school newsletter and school website are the most two important sources of information. P&C News, in the school newsletter, provides an update of current and future P&C events; while the QSchools App is a great way to access website content on mobile devices.
A vision of the P&C is to reduce its contribution to paper wastage by only sending paper notes home when necessary. Classrooms receive a “poster” of upcoming activities from time to time, and we have an active Facebook page www.facebook.com/AspleySSPandC/
The P&C conducts 2 general meetings per term. These currently occur on a Tuesday, 7:00pm in the Administration Block (Library). Important issues are put forward and this is an opportunity to be informed and be involved in the decision making. Your attendance is always welcome and you do not have to be a member to attend; however only members are eligible to vote in decisions, so why not make your vote count?

Uniform Shop and Tuckshop
The P&C manages the business operations of our Aspley Uniform Shop and Tuckshop, as a service to our school community. Volunteers are vital in ensuring these services run smoothly. To offer your support, we welcome you to speak with our Tuckshop and Uniform shop convenors or contact us via email.
Online ordering is our preferred option and is available via Flexischools - www.flexischools.com.au
Tuckshop – Email: Tuckshop.AspleySS@gmail.com or call 3863 9114 for any enquiries, orders or to discuss volunteering opportunities.
Uniform Shop - Email: Uniforms.AspleySS@gmail.com for any enquiries or orders, or to discuss volunteering opportunities.
Aspley Swimming Club
The Aspley Swimming Club supports the running of Friday night swim club events (in Term 4 and Term 1, each year), friendly events with neighbouring schools, and Club Championships. All members of our community are welcome to participate at Aspley Swim Club, not just Aspley State School students. To find out more, visit aspley.swimming.org.au or email email@example.com.
The outside school hours management of the pool has been tendered to Swim Solutions. Further information about Swim Solutions can be obtained from www.swimsolutions.com.au
Event Working Groups
The P&C support parents who are passionate about organizing events throughout the school year to bring our community together. Some events include school discos, movie nights, Mother’s and Father’s Day Stall, Bake Sales, Sausage Sizzle and more. Events held in 2019 such as the Splash & Dash and Trivia Night came together because parents wanted to make it happen!
Parents who are keen are invited to form a working party, whereby an executive team member will assist them. Working parties are a great way to meet other parents and be a part of something bigger within our school community.
Aspley State School Foundation
The Aspley State School Foundation is an initiative of some members of the Aspley State School P&C. It was established in June 2018 to create a reliable income stream to be used for the maintenance, improvement and construction of buildings at Aspley State School.
In 2018, the Foundation raised funds to replace carpet in the Prep classrooms, and provide blinds to shield Year 6 classrooms from the harsh sun. In 2019, the Foundation is working towards shade cover for the oval grandstand and playground. In 2020, the Foundation raised funds for the Student Toilet Block Refresh Project and Water Bubblers.
The Foundation provides families and local businesses with a tax deductible option to helping our community. For more information, please see aspleyssfoundation.com.au.
