Author Visit During Book Week

18/08/2016

Each year, across Australia, The Children's Book Council of Australia brings books and children together celebrating Children’s Book Week.

Book Week runs from 22 to 26 August, during which our students and teachers, including our wonderful librarian Mrs Francis, will celebrate Australian Children's Literature.

The annual Book Character Parade will be held on Monday 29 August as part of our assembly to culminate Book Week. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character and be part of the parade. Parents are invited to come and watch at 8:40am in the hall.
Please note that students must change into their normal school uniform after the parade.

This year Aspley State School is very excited to sponsor Phil Kettle, author of the Too Cool, Boyz Rule and Girlz Rock books, to our school to help students further enhance their writing.

On Friday 26 August, Phil will conduct a workshop with our Year 2 to Year 6 students to show them how writing works. He will talk about generating ideas, the writing phase and show the kids how to edit their work.

There will be an opportunity to buy signed copies of Phil's books for $5 at the library after the 10:30am session.
